“My car started acting up. Neighbors would come regularly ring my house bell to let me know that the Jeep's headlights were on. The Jeep was parked in the street. The problem: it wouldn't stay locked. It would automatically lock and unlock whenever. We only have street parking at home and it was very stressful to leave the car open at night in the street or even when going places. Also the windshield wipers started getting stuck in the middle of the windshield or sometimes stopped working completely. This was very dangerous especially when it happened at high speeds on the highway! …”

NHTSA complaint #11079141, filed 2018-03, 75,000 miles

“Windshield wipers and lights failed to work during icy rain/snowy conditions. Road visibility was significantly impaired and I couldn't see my instrument panel. I had no option but to continue home at very slow speeds to avoid an accident. After approximately 20 minutes of driving without wipers, the wipers suddenly turned on by themselves, moving very fast. I could not adjust the wiper speed at all. When I arrived home and turned the Jeep off and removed the keys, wipers still would not turn off. I had to disconnect the battery to stop the wipers. Dealer claims it was a faulty wiper motor. …”

NHTSA complaint #10448087, filed 2012-02, 126,000 miles

“The passenger side low beam operates intermittently. The problem has been traced to the solid state relay on the tipm printed circuit board. The low beam usually operates after having the selector set to high beam for 20-30 minutes. The only remedy is replacing the tipm at substantial cost for a relatively simple and very important, safety related vehicle function. Replacement tipm units are not readily available, and there is no temporary repair possible. This failure effectively precludes legal operation of the vehicle until the costly repair can be completed.”

NHTSA complaint #10692074, filed 2015-03, 103,000 miles

“- the contact stated that while driving 2007 Jeep Wrangler limited the warning lights on dash board turned on and radio turned off, at which time vehicle lost power while driving at 65-75 MPH. Vehicle mileage at the time of failure was 2900, and is currently 7464. The first time vehicle lost power the rpms were still running. He put the vehicle in neutral. Then attempted to restart the vehicle and was successful. The second time the incident occurred warning lights turned on, and the radio turned off for another 5 second. …”

NHTSA complaint #10176947, filed 2006-12, 7,464 miles

“The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the vehicle was at a stand still, when the headlights turned on independently without the ignition being on. The vehicle was taken to 2 different independent mechanics and was informed there was an electrical issue. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired as of yet. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had been informed of failure. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000.”
