“The left rear brake caliper engages randomly. When engaged the vehicle is slowed somewhat. Sometimes there will be coming off the disc pads. I have noticed that I can clear the condition by following the hill start assist on/off procedure. A mechanic told me this is a computer failure and he can fix it for $1300. I think it is a serious safety issue.”

NHTSA complaint #10938960, filed 2017-01, 15,000 miles

“Abs light, anti-skid light and traction control light come on. Touched the brake slightly and Jeep went into a skid. My steering wheel wants to lock up, my brakes are trying to brake. Seems like a faulty ABS wheel sensor and eveeyone is having this problem”

NHTSA complaint #11407691, filed 2021-04, 179,000 miles

“On my way to work on city street, slight curve in road, it was raining. Cruise control set at 50mph. I heard the chime and glanced at the dashboard. Cruise control light was out, ABS light, anti-skid light and parking brake light were on. Touched the brake slightly and Jeep went into a skid. Luckily no one was next to me. Took it to my mechanic the next day and was told the ABS module had failed and needed to be replaced. This vehicle has less than 38000 miles on it.”

NHTSA complaint #11403137, filed 2021-03, 37,500 miles

“The parking brake handle/ clutch assembly has been faulty on my vehicle from about 6 months after buying it new. It being a manual transmission has caused the vehicle to roll away on several instances. I have ordered a new parking brake assembly to replace the original oe unit to try and fix the problem. Yes the parking brake shoes have been adjusted multiple times. This is an issue with the cable tension system.”
