“Vehicle was parked in front of a house . I left the vehicle in 1st gear then set the parking brake and turned the wheels into the curb to prevent roll back and I got out of the vehicle. I went inside and the vehicle rolled down a hill and into a house. When the police came they found it still in gear and the emergency brake was still on .”

“While driving vehicle at approx 45mph in the rh lane approaching an intersection with an illuminated green right-turn arrow(my lane), a vehicle in the same lane, traveling same direction, suddenly stopped at the green light at the intersection. I immediately applied hard pressure to brake pedal, only to have it slam straight to the floor-board with very little braking action. I was able to quickly down-shift and apply parking brake in time to avoid collision with stopped vehicle. I carefully drove vehicle to my home, approx 3 miles from incident intersection. …”

“In april 2011, my Jeep went in for service at herb chambers. There were safety recalls that needed to be fixed and I expressed my concern to the service associate about my parking brake being loose and not properly adjusted. When I returned to the dealership the diagnosis I received from the service associate was that a massachusetts registered safety inspector examined my parking brake and it was functioning properly. …”

NHTSA complaint #10405511, filed 2011-06, 15,000 miles

“Wasn't due for an oil change for 3000 miles I use synthetic rod blew while on freeway with my daughter in the car . No brakes no warning no steering we could have died! Chrysler turning their head! Mechanic says it's a defect in engine and never seen an engine blow at 64,000 miles and still have all proper levels of fluids! I was going 65 miles an hour on a freeway thank god it was a straight stretch and I was in the right lane, had there been a turn or had we have been on a bridge we would have died or seriously injured someone else!”

NHTSA complaint #10899243, filed 2016-08, 64,758 miles

“Stock 2010 Jeep Wrangler unlimited rubicon ~25,000 miles while driving ~ 25mph on a city street, brakes failed and I drove through a stop sign - I noticed smoke coming from the dash and attempted to pull the vehicle to the side of the road. Before I could, the power steering failed and I noticed flames from the drivers side window. I jumped from the Jeep. Fire services were on scene w/I 2 minutes and Jeep was completely engulfed in flames (around engine compartment) w/I 30 seconds.”
