“Takata recall I had to put in my VIN to make an appointment for recalls & was sent a message back stating there are no recalls on my car. When I looked it up on your website it says my car is in recall for airbags and lower control arm. But according to the Mazda dealer & the Mazda website I don't have any recalls on my car!!! So to date I haven't been able to fix the items that are being recalled. When the recall for the airbags came out I contacted Mazda & there was no recall. Again when the recall was expanded I contacted Mazda. My vehicle was not on the list. …”

NHTSA complaint #11057012, filed 2017-12, 92,000 miles

“My vehicle has two unresolved recalls. The first dates back to july 2015 related to the front suspension ball joint fitting. This has been brought to the attention of south bay Mazda on multiple occasions and the issue has not been resolved nor have I ever received a response from them. A second recall was issued for Mazda cx-9s related to the passenger side airbag in may 2016. Due to the poor customer service at south bay Mazda I've taken my business to culver city Mazda. Culver city Mazda gave me a rental vehicle on aug 8th 2016 while Mazda na orders and delivers parts. …”

NHTSA complaint #10918939, filed 2016-10

“The contact owns a 2011 Mazda CX-9. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and making a turn, the contact lost control of the vehicle, and the front driver's side suspension lowered to the ground. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who determined that the subframe was severely rusted, causing the control arm to detach. The contact was informed that the subframe needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000.”

NHTSA complaint #11658375, filed 2025-05, 125,000 miles

“The contact owns a 2011 Mazda CX-9. While driving 35 MPH, the front wheels seized. The vehicle skidded and came to a complete stop without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact mentioned that the vehicle was serviced for the lower control arms one day prior to the failure. The vehicle had an extended warranty for the transfer case, but it expired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 120,000.”

NHTSA complaint #10919299, filed 2016-10, 120,000 miles

“The front driver-side lower ball joint suffered a catastrophic structural failure and sheared completely apart while moving. This vehicle was previously serviced under Safety Recall Campaign 15V451000 / Mazda Recall 8515G for this exact defect. The recall remedy part failed a second time, collapsing the front wheel assembly, ripping the CV axle completely out of the transmission casing, causing a hazardous transmission fluid spill, and leaving the vehicle stranded and immobilized in the middle of a live roadway in the dark”
