Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“My rear window is opaque. It is due to the material that holds the antenna on the rear window becomming cloudy. I almost had a wreck looking out the back window. At dusk, I could not see the oncoming gray car travelling at a high rate of speed. I took my car to the dealership (now bohn buick) and they told me they had no responsibility to fix this problem because it is a 2009. What do you think.”

NHTSA complaint #10579194, filed 2014-04, 60,000 miles

“Power steering goes out a few minutes upon driving and the wheel becomes hard to turn. Sometimes it will return for a brief moment when starting the car. Also the window washer pump is faulty causing no fluid to come out when pressed, which could lead to visibility problems in winter with all the sand and salt on the roads”

NHTSA complaint #11161318, filed 2018-12, 158,000 miles

“Issues with low beam headlights randomly going out then coming back on at first for a couple of months, then went out completely. Replaced bulbs (low beam) with same problems. Finally found that the low beam light sockets (primarily passenger side) were arcing and shorting out causing bulbs not to work. Recall should be issued to have GM remedy this problem. This is a chronic problem with this line of cars!”

NHTSA complaint #10671091, filed 2015-01, 78,000 miles

“The wipers failed to work. But after 10-15 minutes of the vehicle operating they began to then work. Sometimes the wipers would work with the washers and high speed only. When the wipers were left on and the car was parked, the battery drained and was dead the next morning. Then the engine on two occasions attempted to start itself when sitting and not on. On one occasion it successfully started itself. On several occasions the interior dome light stayed on.”

NHTSA complaint #10733348, filed 2015-07, 50,000 miles

“The contact owns a 2009 Pontiac G6. The contact observed that the passenger side headlight failed intermittently without warning. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer (perrysburg automall located on 26875 n dixie hwy, perrysburg, oh, 43551) where it was diagnosed that a new front passenger side headlight socket was needed. The vehicle was not repaired due to the repair cost. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000. Updated 08/22/17”
