“I was getting out a parking in reverse, suddenly the car accelerated without control crashing with the car was behind in the other extreme in the parking. Damages:1-bumper, right and left of the rear sides of my car 2-back, front, and sides of the car which my car stopped.”

NHTSA complaint #10682934, filed 2015-02, 145,000 miles

“At speeds generally above 40 MPH the engine constantly surges. It surges even while on cruise control. The surges are accompanied by a fluctuation of 400 rpms. One one occasion, I was slowing in traffic on the highway while it was surging - I had to apply more pressure on the brakes as at that very moment it was on an increase in RPM's.”

NHTSA complaint #10432811, filed 2011-10, 100 miles

“Since leasing this brand new 2011 Corolla, I noticed that at speeds between 40mph and 60mph the car would feel as if it was decelerating, akin to being buffeted by strong headwinds, although the speed did not reflect it. I drive mostly around a city that has many zones where the speed limit is 40mph, so I was experiencing this phenomenon a lot. By the time I had 250 miles on the car, I knew that it was not just a quirk, and I made an appointment to take the car to the service department at the dealership. …”

NHTSA complaint #10435627, filed 2011-11, 15 miles

“I drive quite a bit and normally know my vehicles pretty good. I have recently obtained this 2011 Toyota Corolla s and it is in great condition overall. I made a trip 2 days after getting the vehicle and immediately noticed a hesitation between 55-65 MPH. The first time it was approximately 11am in the morning at 78f. Driving on a flat well maintained black top road the vehicle does in fact have a constant hesitation that drops approximately 1000-2000 rpms with a noticeable feel in the vehicle. Immediately (3-4 sec) after the hesitation the vehicle recovers back to the original RPM. …”

NHTSA complaint #10776525, filed 2015-09, 28,085 miles

“My new 2011 Corolla le might have a safety defect in the transmission or fuel system. Whether at freeway or local, I can feel the pull-back while driving. Accordingly, the RPM was found to be fluctuated between 100-400rpm dropping instantly (1-2s). It happened a lot. Subsequently, the dealer service technicians duplicated my concern (sudden pull-back). They even found the pull-back (or RPM drops down suddenly) in cruise control at 60 miles. Then they opened the case and got the field technical specialists check this problem. …”
