Example complaints
Lane departure: “Got my car back from service a couple months ago and it is still performing with errors. While driving in a specific lane on the freeway the car would try to pull my steering wheel to the other lane. VinFast stated an update is all is needed and the problem still is occurring. This car is dangerous. One example of this is the Pleasanton California incident.”
NHTSA complaint #11622428, filed 2024-10Steering: “The lane assist feature repeatedly comes on randomly and has almost caused several accidents while I was driving. Specifically, I was driving on the freeway today in moderate traffic and the emergency lane assist warning flashes on and the car begins to jerk the steering wheel. It caused me to try to correct this and almost caused my hitting the car next to me. There are warning lights that repeatedly just come on without there actually being an issue. The roll back feature works randomly and has almost caused me to hit the car behind me. …”
NHTSA complaint #11607139, filed 2024-08Electrical system: “I purchased my Vinfast VF8 in March 2023 as one of the first to be delivered. Unfortunately, on the first day of receiving the car, I encountered some issues. The fault sensors went off repeatedly, particularly during a rainy day. The car currently has 9600 miles on it, and it has been driven from San Diego to Irvine around 3-4 times to be serviced for issues associated with the functionality of the VF8, with one of those trips being to a repair facility in San Francisco. …”
NHTSA complaint #11611052, filed 2024-08Forward collision avoidance: “As per the technical specifications, The VF8 car must adhere collision safety features. But actually when we drive the car on freeways, State highways, and internal roads, these safely features never worked for me. Kindly refer the attached technical feature documents so called supported features by the manufacturer.”
