“Over the past few days it has been raining heavily & although it has happened to me once before this time is what worse. My car is leaking from somewhere & its coming on the inside. My carpets are constantly wet, my airbags alongside windshield leak, and the handle where you open the hood of the car is literally a stream of water entering the car during heavy rainfall. The airbag light has come on and the check engine. I was more concerned with the check engine light so I went and got it checked. …”
NHTSA complaint #10836971, filed 2016-02, 91,000 miles“Last year I was driving home from school one night it was cold out so I turned on my heated seat. My seat started to get very hot in an isolated area so I turned it remembering the recall I received in the mail. The recall stated that the heating element in the seat could be faulty and the seat could catch fire. I called my dealership and they expressed to me that the recall was expired! What how could some thing that could cause injury have an expiration date? …”
NHTSA complaint #10475788, filed 2012-09, 90,000 miles“I have a 2004 Jetta tdi, which I purchased used in 2006 with 80,000 miles on it. At 135,000 miles, I was driving in february, 2008 in slushy conditions. I tried to turn on my windshield wiper-washer to clean off my windshield, but the wipers would not function. I took the car to a vw dealer who repaired the wipers, saying there was an adjustment to the wipers that required removing cowl so as to access connections that needed to be tightened. …”

NHTSA complaint #10212148, filed 2007-12, 69,086 miles“The right rear hinge on the trunk of my 2004 Jetta cracked on a joint. This caused the trunk to close in an imbalanced way. I recently closed my trunk and the leading edge of the trunk lid made contact with the back light (rear windshield) glass and shattered the glass completely. The glass fell into the car creating a very hazardous situation. When I contacted my local vw dealer to inquire about getting the hinge fixed, they explained that this is a common problem on vw Jetta and passats and they have had numerous similar failures. …”
