“The car randomly stalls!!! This has happened several times and the dealer says nothing is wrong because there are no codes. This is so dangerous and I do not feel safe driving it. Twice the car stalled when sitting at a stop light and once when I was driving on the city street. It will restart after I let it sit. It also stutters/jumps and de excellerates.”

NHTSA complaint #11290651, filed 2019-12, 75,000 miles

“While driving the engine light came on and the car lost power. We were on a rural road so we could pull to the side of the road safely, if this had happened on a freeway we could have been in danger of being rear ended. Once stopped the care would not restart. Had to be towed to vw dealer. The high pressure fuel pump had failed.”

NHTSA complaint #10621160, filed 2014-08, 54,000 miles

“I was driving along and the power dropped to almost nothing. Before I could get to a safe stopping point, the engine died. I had it towed to the dealership. They diagnosed it with a failed high pressure fuel pump(hpfp). If it had been out of warranty, it would have cost $6000 to repair. If this would have happened in the middle of a 4 lane expressway, I don't know what would have happened.”

NHTSA complaint #10514639, filed 2013-06, 46,000 miles

“Besides the problem I have reported about the car sputtering loosing power and even stalling once its on 1/4 tank. Now I am having problems with the alternator charging the battery. I replace the mutli fuse, and the alternator. Its still not charging. I had the old alternator tested and it works. After doing some research trying to figure out what else it could be, many other people are experiencing the same issues. Electrical problems are very dangerous and would like to get this resolved.”

NHTSA complaint #11119883, filed 2018-08, 112,000 miles

“Car is a 2011 vw Jetta tdi. I was told by the vw dealer that the high pressure fuel pump had fallen apart causing metal to go through the fuel system.I bought the car new in july of 2011.volkwagen is replacing the entire fuel system but I am concerned that damage may have already been done to the engine.”
