“We were driving off h-820 n in fortworth texas..the car could not slow down nor could we control it. We ended up hitting the guard rail in one car accident and it was a total loss. Before that, same car was serviced by ignition problem by Chevrolet dealer off 1-20 in arlington,tx..still I was experiencing same problem.”

NHTSA complaint #10633422, filed 2014-09, 140,000 miles

“The security light came on and car shut off while I was driving the car at approx 30 MPH. This happened several times since then while traveling at a higher rate of speed. Luckily I did not have an accident but, I am afraid to drive the car that an accident may happen. This is a very serious safety issue. I have researched the internet and came across many complaints the same as mine. How can it be that no recalls have been made on an issue so serious?”

NHTSA complaint #10667193, filed 2014-12, 137,000 miles

“Air bag did not deploy causing strain of neck muscles, upper back injury, bilateral strain, contusion of multiple sites of my lower limbs bilateral. There have been several recalls on the Impala but due to negligence of gmc I am in pain my car was totaled and I have to purchase a new car. I will need assistance in price, payments, extended maintenance warranty at your cost and delivery of new vehicle to address I provide no fee also include tag payments. …”

NHTSA complaint #10577267, filed 2014-04, 187,000 miles

“My car made a whining noise while moving and makes a loud noise when the steering wheel is turned. I took it to a Chevrolet dealer and they let me know my power steering rack needs replacing at 68,000 miles in february 2004. Needless to say this is not being recalled and this is something a lot of car repair centers are surprised this has failed on a 3 year old car. Chevrolet wants $1,000 to replace.”

NHTSA complaint #10063653, filed 2004-03, 68,000 miles

“I'm getting a pop and klunk in the front end. I was told by an independent service person that the rack and pinion was going bad. I have talked to my local GM dealer, and they have told me that they don't have a recall or service bulletin on it. My car has only 45k on it, hard to believe that something important as steering is going bad in less than 50,000 miles. I don't feel like I have to replace it at my expense, when it seems to be a factory defect.”
