“The plastic dash cover is cracked in several locations. A small crack located in front of the passenger side airbag compartment and numerous cracks on the drivers side domed area above the cluster of gauges. This does concern me because if a frontal accident were to occur, I fear the plastic dash will certainly cause serious damage to the driver and passenger. This happened while driving and I heard a loud pop.”
NHTSA complaint #11297593, filed 2020-01, 148,000 miles“The dash of my 2010 chevy Tahoe has cracked at the drivers side and passenger side airbag. My concern is for the stability of the dash and of the air bag is deployed will the dash puncture the airbag causing it not to inflate. The cracks stayed small but with vibration have grown to a full hole in the dash above the steering column.”
NHTSA complaint #11012525, filed 2017-08, 40,000 miles“There is a large crack on the passenger side of the dashboard. It is by the airbag. This causes the entire dash to vibrate and make noises. I am afraid that the airbag may be compromised. This just occurred one day. My Tahoe is kept in the garage. I have never taken it off road or 4 wheel driving to cause this.”

I payed for it to be replace the first time and now it has happened again. I believe this to be a extreme safety hazard to me and my family. If we where to be involved in a accident I am afraid that pieces of the dash could fly off and become projectiles injuring a member of my family.”
NHTSA complaint #11193735, filed 2019-04, 97,000 miles“The dash at the corner of my passenger side airbag cracked and now the entire dash rattles. I am worried about how this affects the airbag now. The dash was vibrating so much and it just keeps getting worse. I have looked online and apparently, I am not even close to being the only one with this problem. Please help!”
