Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“My windshield wipers will turn on by themselves or stop working when they are in use. This also causes the headlights not ot work and some of the dashboard lights to light up. This is caused by water somehow getting under the fuse box and shorts the wires out. This has happened to me while driving on a busy highway in the rain. I never know when this is going to happen and it is very dangerous.”

NHTSA complaint #11316224, filed 2020-03, 160,000 miles

“During the driving, headlights went out at 55 MPH and I made several attempts to toggle the switch and headlights came on. After a long period with this issue, it gets worse, it takes me at least 2-3 minutes toggling the swtich to turn it on. It is not safe to drive with this issue. Headlight switch is recalled by Chrysler but it doesn't apply on my vehicle.”

NHTSA complaint #10717605, filed 2015-05, 90,000 miles

“While driving the radio will shut off and the warning lights on the dash light up just for a few seconds. I am using the one key only with nothing else on the ring. I have been told that there is a recall for the ignition but have not been notified or been able to find out any further information. I am afraid to drive my van when this happens for fear it will shut down and cause an accident.”

NHTSA complaint #10702469, filed 2015-03, 45,304 miles

“My headlights go on and off all the time they even flicker sometimes by turning headlight switch on and off they come back on doesn't happen all the time sometimes I'll be driving and headlights will just go off by flipping switch off and on a few times they come back on”

NHTSA complaint #11052688, filed 2017-12, 189,000 miles

“Was driving through an intersection (after stopped at a red light) and vehicle shut off in the middle of intersection with no warning. Also, for months now, the lights and gauges in dashboard have flickered on and off while driving... We took it to dealer and they re-set the computer but it didn't resolve the light flickering issue. We have replaced the alternator and also had the battery checked.”
