What owners report

Complaints on this model year center on the 1.5L engine's fuel system: many owners describe a fuel smell, hesitation or stalling, and several say they are waiting on a recall remedy for the fuel injector campaign. Others report loss of power or shuddering tied to the transmission and powertrain, plus low-voltage battery problems that leave the vehicle unable to start. A smaller group describes the hood unlatched and flying open, and windshields cracking without impact.

  1. Fuel system

Open fuel injector recall: fuel smell and no remedy

    • 22 complaints (19%)
    • median 23,099 mi at 2.9 yrs old (5 state mileage, few)
    • 2 mention a crash, fire or injury
    • filed 2024–2026

Owners report receiving notice of NHTSA campaign 25V467000 for the 1.5L fuel injector and being told the parts are not yet available. Some describe a fuel odor under the hood or in the cabin, occasionally together with an abnormal humming noise after shutdown, and others describe hesitation or stalling while accelerating. Complaints frequently state that an interim software update was performed at the dealer without a final repair. Mostly reported on vehicles under about 35,000 miles, often with the vehicle parked or at low speed.

    Recall 25V4670002 related service bulletins

What to check: Ask the dealer whether campaign 25V467000 has been completed on this VIN and whether any remedy is available yet. Check for a fuel smell under the hood after driving and after the engine is shut off.

2 excerpts from owner complaints in NHTSA records

“I am very concerned because I have a letter dated August 2025 about this recall and nothing has been done yet. If something happens while I’m driving my car, I could have an under hood fire, resulting in risk of injury to myself or others in the vehicle. I feel it is taking entirely too long to fix this problem. It’s causing me a great deal of stress when I’m driving my vehicle.”

    NHTSA complaint #11742670, filed 2026-06

“My 2024 Ford Bronco Sport has had an open unrepaired safety recall (Ford 25S76 / NHTSA 25V467) for about 10 months. The recall states that a fuel injector may crack and create an under-hood fire risk. There is still no repair remedy available. Ford and the dealership have stated that they are trying to develop a solution until June 2026. This effectively means I am being told to continue driving a vehicle with a known fire risk for an unknown extended period of time. For the past 10 months, I have been driving this vehicle in fear. …”

  2. Transmission and drivetrain

Loss of power and transmission shudder

    • 25 complaints (22%)
    • median 18,000 mi at 1.5 yrs old (5 state mileage, few)
    • 3 mention a crash, fire or injury
    • filed 2024–2026

Owners describe the vehicle failing to accelerate when the pedal is pressed, sometimes with a wrench or powertrain malfunction message and reduced power, and sometimes with no warning at all. Some report lagging or shuddering from the transmission at low speeds, and several say the dealer could not duplicate the concern or replaced knock sensors without a lasting fix. Commonly reported between roughly 4,000 and 19,000 miles, often at highway speed or when pulling away from a stop.

    Recall 25V158000Recall 24V683000Recall 24V2670004 related service bulletins

What to check: Ask whether the battery control module recalls and any transmission software updates were applied, and take a test drive that includes low-speed acceleration and a steady 50-60 mph cruise to feel for shudder.

2 excerpts from owner complaints in NHTSA records

“Powertrain malfunctions have occurred on 12/17/24, 4/11/25 and 10/5/25. Powertrain malfunction and yes. The car would not accelerate and someone could of ran into me, I could of been killed or badly injured and same for any other occupants in the either vehicle. Yes. Yes. The messages appeared on 12/17/24, 4/11/25 and 10/5/25.”

    NHTSA complaint #11691829, filed 2025-10

“This car has less than 2,500 miles on it, and it failed to go into gear when pulling out on a major highway. When it did slip into gear, it would only go 10 MPH the whole way home. Multiple alerts were sent to my phone; see below for specific alert info. The dealership said it was a loose wire after telling me they would replace the car, and over 60 sensors went off. Alerts: service engine warning powertrain malfunction reduced power pre-collision assistance not available”

    NHTSA complaint #11636521, filed 2025-01
  3. Electrical system

Battery drains and no-start / electrical faults

    • 18 complaints (16%)
    • median 6,031 mi at 1.0 yrs old (3 state mileage, few)
    • 1 mention a crash, fire or injury
    • filed 2024–2026

Owners report the vehicle failing to start and needing a jump, with the battery losing charge even during use; some say the start-stop feature stopped working beforehand. Complaints describe repeat dealer visits where the battery was recharged rather than replaced, and others mention warning lights flashing in series or the vehicle refusing to shift into neutral when it will not start. Often reported within the first few thousand miles, including within weeks of purchase.

    Recall 24V683000Recall 24V267000Recall 25V1580002 related service bulletins

What to check: Ask for service records showing the body control module recalls were completed and whether the 12V battery has been replaced rather than only recharged; check that start-stop works.

2 excerpts from owner complaints in NHTSA records

“I believe the transmission has an issue. The car was started and it quickly went into reverse and sped up trapping my wife between the door and a tree as she was exiting the vehicle to swap seats for me to drive. No known warnings were issued by the vehicle prior to the incident on 6/7/2025. The previous recall for the BCM & PCM was completed on 2/27/2025 by our local Ford dealer”

    NHTSA complaint #11665543, filed 2025-06

“January 10, 2026. My battery abruptly stalled. It was charged drove a few feet in the car just stopped. The car was towed, and the battery was deemed faulty and needed replacement. May 10. The engine coolant light came on. The car would turn on and then abruptly stalled. Mid traffic. The car again was towed and it was deemed had a faulty coolant pump. I asked for the fuel injection system to be looked at and they said my card does not have a Vin recall. …”

Buying note. Have any open fuel injector, battery control module or windshield wiper recalls checked against the VIN before purchase, since several complaints concern waiting for parts. A pre-purchase inspection that includes a fuel-smell check, a low-speed and highway test drive, and a look at the battery service history will cover most of what owners describe.

Summary written with AI from a sample of 60 NHTSA complaints for this model year (picked at random, with complaints that state a mileage and recent ones taken first), then checked automatically against the source records. Where a problem shows a complaint count, every complaint for this model year was matched with fixed keyword rules (written with AI and tested against the sample), and the mileage, age and repair figures are calculated from those complaints; owners' figures are as stated, not verified. Other counts refer to the sample. The excerpts come from NHTSA's public complaint records and are unverified; capitalisation is normalised, NHTSA staff notes are removed, and shortened text ends with “…”. Something wrong? Transmission and drivetrain: “I Was in Reverse backing out and stopped with the brake and rolled the gear dial to drive until foot off brake and it stayed stuck in reverse and I moved backwards and hit a car behind me.
