“I am writing to complain of the poor visibility from the headlights on this vehicle. With low beam on there is a black out line about 30 to 40 feet in front of the vehicle which changes with elevation of the road. I drive in rural areas 80% of the time and have difficulty seeing far enough in front to drive safely. When on high beam it is difficult to see to the sides far enough to see any objects possibly entering the roadway. I am wondering if anything can be done to resolve this issue. Thanks for your time.”
NHTSA complaint #11220420, filed 2019-06, 42,000 miles“I purchased my 2014 Ford Edge SEL ON JANUARY 2015. I have electrical problems suspicion problems & recall on my Airbags! I have always taken it to a Ford Dealership to have my regular service done…oil charge etc. it those times I have told them the other problems I was having example electrical problem started a month after I bought my vehicle every time they told me nothing is wrong or they replace the battery I have had 4 batteries replaced by Ford Dealerships. I also had recall on my airbags the dealership told me numerous times you do not need to worry about your vehicle it is fine!! …”
NHTSA complaint #11517924, filed 2023-04, 109,450 miles“Whoever thought these ece headlights are great needs to get off the drugs. Just bought a new 2014 Ford EDGE. 2 nights ago was driving on a very hilly road. As I was coming up from the bottom, the cutoff line of these things kept me from seeing two people walking in my lane. When they came into the beam, I slammed on the brakes and scared the crap out of them and me. If I end up killing anyone because I couldn't see them because of these cutoff pos's, I'll be seeing you guys in court. I highly suggest you build american and get these cutoff things off american cars. …”
NHTSA complaint #10614669, filed 2014-07, 800 miles“The Ford EDGE was bought new in december 2014, and this was the first time I drove the car at night. I live in a rural area in northeastern pa. With no street lights. The vehicle has projection beam headlights and on high beam, the light is so focused to the front, that you lose sight of any road you may be trying to turn onto. You can very easily run off the road since you loose the relationship of where you are driving on the dark road. With the lights on low beam it is as if a black shade covers the top 2/3 of the windshield making it even more difficult to see the road, turning or not. …”
NHTSA complaint #10716603, filed 2015-05, 800 miles“Headlights are projector beam style with a very distinctive cutoff at the top of the beam which makes impossible to see any distance when traveling on hilly roads. Also, the headlight beams are extremely narrowly focused directly ahead making it very hard to see anything to the sides when needing to make a turn. High beams are very weak.”
