Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“While driving in the city my hazard lights came on automatically and I could not turn them off. This also made my blinkers incapable of being used, a clear safety issue and law offense. My hazard lights continued to turn on and off automatically leaving me with a drained battery. I have researched the recalls and it seems this can be a fire hazard but my car was not on this recall list.”

NHTSA complaint #11324083, filed 2020-05, 128,000 miles

“My passenger door indicates that when closed that it is not. The dome light stays on and so does the dash indicator. It has also done it while driving down the road. Creepy, since I'm disabled and have hands controls to drive. So I have to pull over and reclose the door. Plus once the lights come on I can't see while driving at night.”

NHTSA complaint #10939496, filed 2017-01, 95,000 miles

“Door ajar issue. Already killed one battery. Also is a safety issue. I've had to drive several times when it's dark out and the lights inside the vehicle will not shut off. Not going to pay almost 500 dollars to have this fixed when I hear of tons of people fixing it, for the issue to come right back with a new part.”

NHTSA complaint #11047979, filed 2017-11, 100,000 miles

“My problem is with a 2011 Ford EDGE. The door ajar light stays on all the time. The dome lights inside the vehicle will not go out and is hazardous when driving at night. The dome lights stay on while driving. I had to replace my battery and now I am afraid my new battery will run down and leave me stranded away from home.”

NHTSA complaint #10928658, filed 2016-11, 76,712 miles

“While driving at 35 MPH, my emergency hazards came on by themselves. Will not turn off by touching hazard button, or pulling battery terminal. Took to a mechanic who said my body contol module is faulty, and wont read any codes. Need to take to dealership for faulty bcm.”
