Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“Front passenger door latch/sensor malfunction. Door ajar light stays on even though the door is closed. The doors don't lock and the dome light stays on because the car thinks the door is open. This is a huge safety concern because I have a small son and we can't lock the doors while he's in the vehicle.”

NHTSA complaint #11340261, filed 2020-07, 145,000 miles

“My passenger door indicates that when closed that it is not. The dome light stays on and so does the dash indicator. It has also done it while driving down the road. Creepy, since I'm disabled and have hands controls to drive. So I have to pull over and reclose the door. Plus once the lights come on I can't see while driving at night.”

NHTSA complaint #10939496, filed 2017-01, 95,000 miles

“My drivers door will not latch. Due to this my dome light remains on which causes it to be dangerous to drive my car at night. It also drains my battery on a regular basis. My local dealer did something after I purchased the vehicle to fix it , however it has continued to happen since I purchased the vehicle from a Ford dealer almost to years ago.”

NHTSA complaint #10905129, filed 2016-09, 39,000 miles

“A warning comes up on the instrument panel that the driver door is ajar. I will close it again and most times it still says it is ajar. Once I begin driving the doors will not lock, nor will they allow me to lock them, they immediately unlock again. Also the interior lighting will stay on when the car is not being driven and is stationary.”

NHTSA complaint #10913588, filed 2016-10, 25,000 miles

“My vehicle displayed the door ajar alarm after the door had been shut securely. This occurred intermittently for two days, and then began to occur every time I got in the vehicle. A couple days later it went back to being intermittent. I would not get the notification when I first got in the vehicle, but then the alarm would go off while I was driving.”

NHTSA complaint #10746617, filed 2015-08, 41,000 miles
