“I had the lift gate open loading groceries and it all of a sudden released and came down and striking my head and neck and I quickly pushed it back up and it just dropped down again before I could get myself clear striking me again, it got my neck and shoulder. I took it to dealership and was first was told it was a problem for the body shop, but they quickly determined it was an electrical problem. The lift gate is very heavy and I do have to see a doctor for the persistent pain in the neck and shoulder. …”

NHTSA complaint #10781884, filed 2015-10, 81,000 miles

“I have owned multiple vehicles and never had a problem like this. I bought a 2008 Ford EDGE in nov 2011. By june of 2012, I had water pouring into my vehicle through the dash onto my vehicle floor. My mechanic said that the condensation drain was clogged with leaves, which caused the water to rise. The water shorted out the motor for my fan, so my whole motor had to be replaced. Now I am having this problem again. The only people I know of who have had this issue are Ford EDGE owners. …”

NHTSA complaint #10524896, filed 2013-07, 30,000 miles

“Paint on body of car bubbles then peels leading to rust on the interior and exterior of hood. Ford alludes that this has been an issue with various models but states that they are limited in what they are able to offer unless a recall is issued.”

NHTSA complaint #10626219, filed 2014-08, 55,000 miles

“The driver door ajar warning is illuminated on the dash and the doom lights wont turn off. I have found out this is a very common issue with fords where the poorly designed door latch binds up. I had this same issue with my 2002 explorer and now with my 2008 EDGE. It becomes a huge safety issue at night since the dome lights will not turn off so it is hard to see outside and could potentially cause an accident. From what I can tell I have been lucky to get this far before this issue has surfaced since I have read that Ford cars 2 to 3 years old seem to have this very same issue.”
