“My car has completely shut off while driving 70 MPH on the highway!! A wrench icon lights up on the dash board. I can barely coast to the side of the road before car comes to a complete stop. I was sooo afraid of being killed! The mechanic checked and says there is nothing wrong with my car. It has happened 4 more times. The car starts up after I can put it in park and drives like nothing happened until the next incident. Who will have to die before Ford finds the problem?”
NHTSA complaint #11360191, filed 2020-09, 35,500 miles“Driving my vehicle in traffic and it displayed a wrench symbol and start shaking lost power, had to drift to the side of the road in traffic. I had it towed to the dealer same day after 3 hours of being on side of the road they said it was the oil cap had came off, but you could not go but 20 MPH. Would like to know whys hasn't anyone issued an recall on this year model. To cover the cost of this issue, could have lost my life. Please consider issuing a full recall.”
NHTSA complaint #11251936, filed 2019-08, 92,485 miles“1st occurrence was when I was driving on the interstate and the vehicle suddenly stopped accelerating and went into limp mode (a wrench was displayed on the dashboard). I was not able to accelerate at all and had to pull off the interstate. Turned off the vehicle and turned it back on and the wrench and check engine light was off. This now occurs every day and is a safety issue, it happened when I was making a turn at a busy intersection and almost ended up in another driver hitting me as I had no power to accelerate out of the way. …”
NHTSA complaint #11373854, filed 2020-11, 55,000 miles“I was driving my car down a side street when all of a sudden the dashboard flashed low engine oil pressure and I lost control of the steering, brakes, and gas. The car essentially just stalled out and just started rolling until I hit the emergency brake. I had the car towed to the dealership and after looking at it for two days they couldn't replicate the error and couldn't find anything wrong with the car. The computer registered no errors and I was told there was nothing they could do.”
NHTSA complaint #10723522, filed 2015-06, 4,400 miles“When driving at highway speeds (65 MPH+) with cruise control enabled, if I pass an 18 wheeler, the car will suddenly jam on the brakes and decelerate from my current speed down below 55 MPH. This happens in less then 3 seconds. There is no one in front of me - it is a clear straightaway. If I step on the gas the car will speed up and I'll pass the truck. At that point the cruise control will operate normally - until I pass another truck. This doesn't happen all then time. Maybe 20%. It seems to happen with tall tractor trailers more then normal trucks. …”
