“I had a engine warning light come on so I knew about the one recall for brake lines so I took my vehicle to a Ford dealership in Murfreesboro to fix the recall and to find out why the engine warning light came on, so they gave me a ride home. They asked me to leave my vehicle so these 2 things could be completed and checked out. 2 days had gone by and they finally call to tell me, my car was ready so I got a ride to the dealership to find out what was going on! …”
NHTSA complaint #11460092, filed 2022-04“In 2018 I bought my 2016 Ford Edge which had 60,000 miles on it. I bought the extended warranty plan. I drove it for approximately 30 days and I started having issues with it losing coolant and smoking. I took it back to the dealership and was told it needed a new motor, so they put a new motor in it. Well, I just notice recently that the check engine light comes on (misfire in #2 cylinder ). it was smoking and using coolant. this was the same thing it did in 2018 when they replaced it then. …”
NHTSA complaint #11471835, filed 2022-06“My 2016 Ford Edge with 86k miles encountered a well-known EcoBoost engine problem (TSB 22-2229) where there was coolant intrusion into the cylinder causing a rough start and codes P0302 (cylinder #2 misfire) and P1316 (misfire in first 1000 RPM). My understanding is that this problem can potentially lead to an engine fire. The dealership I bought the Edge from replaced the engine block at my expense, not because the block itself was damaged, but because the newer block doesn't cause the head gasket failure or leakage between the coolant system and the cylinders. …”
NHTSA complaint #11561014, filed 2023-12“The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the check engine warning light remained illuminated, and the vehicle was taken to a local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced due to coolant intrusion. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 84,024.”
NHTSA complaint #11637690, filed 2025-01, 84,024 miles“The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with coolant leaking into cylinder #4. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure.
