“I was driving my Ford F-150 at around 60 miles an hour when the rubber pealed off my general grabber aw tire. As a result it caused me to swerve and almost resulted in an accident. My rear fender was severely damaged as well as my rear light. I have primewell valera tires on the front and they are cracking. I purchased all tires at firestone. Of course, when bringing the complaint to firestone they say I have to call the manufacturer since they do not distribute that name brand.”

NHTSA complaint #11183558, filed 2019-03, 245,000 miles

“I repaired a tire that had a nail within an inch or less distance to the sidewall. I let my service/shop manager know about the situation and he told me to do the repair anyway, which I did. The tire repair failed and the tire ended up going flat. All I know is they had me break it down for inspection but the patch did seem to be on the surface properly. There are no posters on how to do the tire repair properly nor are there any methods of double checking the repair after the tire was complete. …”

NHTSA complaint #10630268, filed 2014-09, 100,000 miles

“Was on a slick road. I was going 15 miles an hour, when my 2000 Ford F-150 spun completely around. When the truck spun around it went towards the ditch backwards. When I hit the ditch the truck flipped onto the passenger side. When the tow truck arrived on the scene he informed me that the rear tire broke off the axle. I had never heard of this happening at such a slow speed, neither had the tow truck driver, especially since it was a heavy half ton load axle . When we were looking at the axle in the light it appeared that it crystallized and snapped. …”

NHTSA complaint #10177993, filed 2007-01, 70,000 miles

“Left rear wheel fell off the pickup. Damaging rear disc and axle. I was going approximately 45 MPH when this happened. The vehicle has had a vibration problem at 65 mile ph varying in intensity. The dealer replace the drive axle, wheel, caliper/disc and brake lines free of charge. The vibration at 65mph still continues. The dealer has stated the vibration is within allowable limits as determined by the manufacturer. I have heard other have had the same problem with this 2000 f150 5.4 l ABS 4 wheel disc brake vehicle with tow package. …”

NHTSA complaint #10005549, filed 2003-02, 25,863 miles

“The consumer noticed that the left front tire did not hold air because the wheelwas cracked. The manufacturer and the dealership were notified. The factory wheel had a crack approximately 2 inches along the inside of the mounting surface near the rim.”
