“Had driven approximately 5 miles parked in a lowes parking lot went into the store for about 45min. Only to come out to my truck on fire. The truck was completely off and no one was in it, and there are only 2 sets of keys one in my pocket and the other at home. The vehicle was locked. Prior to driving the 5 miles it had not been driven in 2 days. Ford says it's not there problem and insurance only wants to give us $3,700.00. My husband is a retired veteran and this whole situation has caused his ptsd to be triggered.”
NHTSA complaint #10905818, filed 2016-09, 190,000 miles“I was driving on the highway onto the offramp, when I got to the end, I had nearly 100% brake failure. I managed to dodge a semi by pulling on the shoulder and using the emergency brake. The brake line had corroded from from to back. I looked on the NHTSA website and see a lot of these issues, but since the great mounds of NHTSA seem to believe nearly total brake failure is not an issue, I just replace the part of the line that is leaking. It will very likely fail again soon, but I know that it that was a problem, then NHTSA would do its job and push a recall. …”
NHTSA complaint #10465582, filed 2012-07, 210,000 miles“We have two 2000 f150 pickups and at 37000 miles the ABS light came on, I've had one pickup repaired and the brakes are not the same I feel this should have been a recall since it was on two different vehicles.”
NHTSA complaint #10056215, filed 2004-01, 37,000 miles“I was traveling in neutral, downhill, at about 40mph through a shallow turn as I was exiting a highway. When I put the truck in 4th gear to accelerate, I had no power. The tachometer was at zero and I tried to turn on the hazard lights and begin braking, both failed to work. I had no lights or any other electrical power (it was daylight) I downshifted and turned to ease off the road, I had no power steering, then the steering wheel locked. I halted the truck with the e brake once I was slow enough and on the edge of the road. I tried to restart it several times but nothing would happen. …”
NHTSA complaint #10335399, filed 2010-06, 26,000 miles“Anti locking brakes: when it is raining or wet conditions the first time I use my brakes, the rear brakes will lock up and the rear end will start to bounce. Truck will not stop, will slide instead. The following date is approximate. I took the truck to ennis Ford, place of purchase, I thought I needed new brakes. I was told my brakes pads were good. The problem was a defect in the anti-locking brakes system and that Ford would not stand behind it. I asked for a description of the problem and was told Ford would not allow then to tell me what was wrong. …”
