“Tamara recall. My 2000 model Ford f150 was sitting in the driveway last night. It had been parked there since noon. At 11:10 last night, I saw flames coming from outside, and my trucks hood was completely engulfed in flames. Wondering what would make it catch on fire.”
NHTSA complaint #11141300, filed 2018-10, 145,000 miles“Truck was parked in driveway when it suddenly caught on fire under the hood burning through the hood in a matter of seconds. Firefighters called to the scene said they have never seen anything like it before. I believe this fire was caused by the speed control switch, of which there have been at least two recalls on of which we were never informed about.”
NHTSA complaint #10490630, filed 2013-01, 133,000 miles“2000 F-150 Ford 5.4 liter continues to have problems with the #5 ignition coil keeps misfiring. I've had this problem dx by my local mechanic over three years and he has repaired it. It cost just utter $200 each time to fix it. I have receipts. Today he said to contact the dealer to see it there is a recall.”
NHTSA complaint #10373544, filed 2010-12, 57,629 miles“Shortly after my recall the switch shorted out, I took my vehicle to velde Ford in vero beach florida, they claim they replaced the parts required for the recall and my cruise control still wasn't back to being operational (which it was prior to the fire) and charged me 246.78 plus tax to do the repair. They claim it was unrelated.”
NHTSA complaint #10151027, filed 2006-02, 125,000 miles“On my vehicle I can remove the key, with the vehicle still running. I had actually gotten out of the vehicle with the keys the first time I noticed it, and it was still running. I then climbed back inside ( keys still in my pocket) put the car in drive, and drove around the block. I have to be careful when I exit that the black ring around the key is turned all the way counter clockwise when I exit. I can also remove the keys while I am driving down the road. They actually fell out once while driving.”
