“I took the vehicles battery out to replace it with a new one and after installing the new one the airbag warning light came on and will not go out,,have no idea why im thinking it was shut off to sell it. T he vehicle was in my driveway when it occurred. Stationary.”

NHTSA complaint #11206956, filed 2019-05, 1,000 miles

“Takata inflators???? Involved in a front impact collision, the air bags deployed. I received minor lacerations on both my fight hand and left arm from debris from the airbag. One small piece was still embedded in my right hand. Other than the debris, the airbag deployment was as it should be.”

NHTSA complaint #10821925, filed 2016-01, 85,600 miles

“After taking my vehicle in to the shop for a routine safety inspection, I've received a call that my F-150 failed because of an air bag malfunction. After doing research, I have found out that many vehicles with air bag malfunctions have been recalled. I feel that this is not a case of normal wear and tear from the owner but a company malfunction. I am suppose to pay $1300 for a repair that I have no control over and one that has been recalled in so many vehicles? I find this to be unacceptable!”

NHTSA complaint #10735359, filed 2015-07, 80,000 miles

“Vehicle would stall at random while driving. Mechanics at Ford advised that it was relay wire or harness wires for the airbag sensors that ran through the fuel tank were corroded or shorted out. They reported that the engineers at Ford made a bad call when they decided to run the wires through the fuel tank, which in turn resulted in me having to dish out 1500 bucks for the repair. This issue occurred multiple times prior to the repair on a truck with less than 53000 miles at the time, between during march or april of 2014 when I first purchased the used truck. …”

NHTSA complaint #11163387, filed 2018-12, 53,000 miles

“I was involved in a low-speed 45 miles a hour front end collision. I was in a Ford F-150 4 door 2-wheel drive. My seat belt worked great. The air bag went off but did not hit me in the face. The front of the truck was crushed badly but with no fluid leaks. After the wrecker pull my front bumper free from my front tires I was able to drive the truck back home about 100 miles. All system worked great. The truck showed that the Ford safety system worked well. I had no injuries except for my left hand. And that is the complaint. …”
