“My 2002 f250, 4x4, 7.3l diesel Ford truck with 48,846 miles has had the third accelerator pedal installed at a price of $1186. Ford refused to do anything, even with Ford service action 03b03 and even with a law suite pending courts approval. Customer satisfaction program 10b16. My truck dropped to idle in the middle of a left turn hauling a 12,000 lb trailer. It was a terrible start to a vacation to the coast.”

NHTSA complaint #10347076, filed 2010-08, 48,600 miles

“Our barn and contents burned down on june 14, 2010. Fire investigators believe the fire started with our 2002 Ford f-250 truck that was parked inside. Found out afterwards that there is a recall on the truck for a sensor that can cause fire even while vehicle is not running.”

NHTSA complaint #10344878, filed 2010-07, 120,000 miles

“Any range of RPM while driving & occasionally while idling my truck has stalled and engine dies. It has, so far, restarted quickly and I continue on my way. This occurs in heavy to moderate traffic and when the truck dies you lose power steering & power brakes. I have been told to replace my cps (cam position sensor) by a Ford mechanic and I intend to do that today. My truck is not safe to drive in it's current condition of random stalling.”

NHTSA complaint #10206400, filed 2007-10, 167,000 miles

“After having several instances of the failure of the accelerator pedal of my 2002 Ford f250 crew cab diesel pickup truck, I asked the local Ford dealer (jones-west Ford of reno, nevada) to investigate the problems. The diagnosis was that on the diesel f250, there is an electric gas-pedal vs. One that is directly connected via control linkage; on my Ford f250 the electric gas-pedal was experiencing an intermittent failure. …”

NHTSA complaint #10000389, filed 2002-12, 11,754 miles

“On december 19, 2002 at 3:30 pm, with the engine warmed up and the transmission indicating normal temperature, after having driven for 1 hour-problem free, I was coming to a stop sign in my Ford f-250 diesel crew cab truck at the intersection of plumas and moana lane, in reno, nevada. As I tried to slow down, it became very clear that the engine was still engaged to the transmission because as I slowed, the diesel engine began to lug down and jolt the truck violently. The engine was accelerating, but my foot was off the accelerator and on the brake. …”
