Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“We have had problems with the acceleration since we bought the car. The car does not change gears cleanly. Instead it may hesitate before changing gears, act like it is in neutral with high revolutions and no change in acceleration. We have to play with the pedal constantly to try to make it act normal in changing gears even thought this is an automatic transmission car.”

NHTSA complaint #11231157, filed 2019-07, 2,000 miles

“Harsh jerking and shuddering when accelerating. Ford has a recall on the transmission for this problem, yet they refused to fix mine because its 65000 miles. Was never told about this when I got the car (~35000) - would have fixed sooner if I was. Got clutch replaced months ago, fixed this for a little, now the problem is back.”

NHTSA complaint #11150311, filed 2018-11, 65,000 miles

“I started my car the check engine light came on, I put it in gear and it hesitated to accelerate. It also when I had it in park and went to put it in drive, it started going in reverse. Had a diagnostic test done and it came back: p0902 clutch actuator circuit low. I only drive the city streets.”

NHTSA complaint #11270540, filed 2019-10, 73,207 miles

“Back at the end of june, first part of july I had a check engine light on and then the next day it was off but some stupid my key came on and not it regulates my speed and volume. I am not paying over $200 to have it removed. But the most important thing is the clutch on my transmission is out and Ford won't replace it for free and I dont have the money to fix it. I believe Ford should fix it for free since they can't build good transmissions.”

NHTSA complaint #11349338, filed 2020-08, 122,450 miles

“Upon acceleration, car hesitates, stutters, shakes and makes a grinding noise. When entering the highway, it really hesitated and took longer than usual to get to the speed limit. Hence, someone was coming up quickly behind me and was very irate with me. This could have caused an accident or something other . . . Like road rage by the other driver.”
