NHTSA complaint #10410292, filed 2011-07, 75,019 miles“Everytime I have the A/C on in my vehicle (2007 Ford Freestyle) I put the car in drive or in reverse the vehicle lunges forwards or backwards. I almost hit a car while I was trying to park. If a child had been walking behind the vehicle I could of seriously hurt them. I do not want to be held accountable for an accident like this when this vehicle should be recalled for repairs before this happens if not to me someone else. This happens everytime I have the A/C on. Now the engine light and wrench is on and I am afraid to drive it.”
NHTSA complaint #10415499, filed 2011-07, 130,000 miles“My 2007 Ford Freestyle was delivered in january, 2007. In march 2008, the transmission went and the dealer had the Freestyle until the end of may, 2008. The dealer told me that people were flown in from detroit. Then, in august, 2009, the transmission went on the mass pike at 65 MPH. I called the dealer and I was told that it was my responsibility because the car was out of warranty, but the new transmission only had 11,000 miles on it. (as an aside, no one was at the dealership that I had any contact with when the transmission went in 2008.) I called Ford. …”
NHTSA complaint #10376380, filed 2011-01, 83,000 miles“I have a 2007 Ford Freestyle . The transmission has gone out in my car. I have experience unconditional surging while the car was in gear. I have gone without running the air conditioner, thinking that was the cause of the car surging (taking off). The increase acceleration (revving) of the speedometer and RPM gauges were very alarming. The occurrences were many throughout the two years of me driving the car. The wrench appeared while I was driving, the car died. I pulled over and started the car back up. It hesitated after two tries, it finally turned over. …”
NHTSA complaint #10419324, filed 2011-08, 100,000 miles“The rear rotors and pads on my 2007 Ford Freestyle (fwd) were replaced for the second time at 43,700 miles, less then 15k miles after the first time. The first time there was no charge at 28,900 miles under the Ford program 07n10. The front pads were replaced and the rotors turned only once at 43,700. The Ford dealership service area said the rear rotors needed to be replaced just from normal wear. I heard that the front brakes are the stopping power of my Freestyle, if that is true one would think that the front rotors would have the same amount of wear, or am I incorrect?”
