“Our car was quite new. My daughters and I were in the car at a stop light. Someone was in front of me at the time and they were making a right hand turn. When I was slightly rolling forward I applied pressure to the brake and my car jumped or lunged forward-causing an accident with 4 kids and 2 adults involved. This is the first of many incidents with my car proactively moving.”

NHTSA complaint #10464415, filed 2012-07, 250 miles

“While driving on the highway, the Ford Freestyle had a sudden jolt/wiggle during a long sweeping turn to the left. Continued driving home for 200 miles without issues. The driver's rear wheel appeared crooked (splaying out) afterwards. Car was brought in for inspection and the rear subframe was broken. Mechanic noticed large amount of rust. Car has 161k miles.”

NHTSA complaint #11354391, filed 2020-09, 161,000 miles

“Failed inspection due to rust and corrosion on sub frame. Engine light on consistent with recent recall of Ford edge due to rust and corrosion. Car has only 72,703 miles and is in very good condition. Other Freestyle owners have noted similar dangerous corrosion on sub frame due to substandard steel and alloys.”

NHTSA complaint #10787205, filed 2015-10, 72,703 miles
