“My 2007 Ford Freestyle cuts off repeatedly after almost every red light stop. I saw a lot of complaints about this matter with different Ford freestyles and no one seems to know the cause. Mainly anytime I apply the brakes the cut shuts off and puts myself and family in life- threatening situations. Also, the vehicle idles high while my feet on on the breaks.”

NHTSA complaint #10861975, filed 2016-04, 3 miles

“When driving the car suddenly lurches forward. I have had the car 3 days and it has done this twice. Both times I was on city streets driving up a slight incline. The first time I was driving about 35 MPH. Two different towns two different hills. The first was a freeway overpass and the second was just a street on a hill. Today I had just pulled out from a stop sign and was accelerating up the hill between 20-30 MPH it lurched/surged again!”

NHTSA complaint #11364372, filed 2020-10, 247,000 miles

“Several times my vehicle surges forward when moving at slow speeds or braking. This has happened while driving forward and reverse. More noticeable when the A/C is on. Even when my foot is on the brake - the car accelerates on it's own and lunges forward. I can hear the engine revving when this is happening - even though my foot is on the brake.”

NHTSA complaint #10404950, filed 2011-06, 72,184 miles

“Our car was quite new. My daughters and I were in the car at a stop light. Someone was in front of me at the time and they were making a right hand turn. When I was slightly rolling forward I applied pressure to the brake and my car jumped or lunged forward-causing an accident with 4 kids and 2 adults involved. This is the first of many incidents with my car proactively moving.”

NHTSA complaint #10464415, filed 2012-07, 250 miles

“The vehicle routinely lurches forward while my foot is on the brake and the engine is idling. This began during the summer of 2009, and continues today. It is especially common during warm weather. Sometimes after this happens, the engine will stall after I take my foot off the brake and try to accelerate on my own.”
