“The contact owns a 2023 Ford Maverick. The contact stated the check warning engine light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve sensor had failed. The sensor inside the valve failed due to condensation getting into the valve and short-circuiting the sensor. The EGR valve sensor had been replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 44,000.”
