“The backup camera on my 2015 Mustang has been repaired twice and continues to fail to work. The wiring harness for the camera in the trunk lid, was repaired once under warranty and again at my expense. On both occasions it worked briefly and failed. It still does nor work. I see there are many complaints about this problem and there is currently a recall. I have not heard from Ford”

NHTSA complaint #11456682, filed 2022-03

“Recall: 22S06 back up camera not available. Took my mustang in for the recall and service rewired back up camera harness/wires. Week later, came went out again and upon self inspection, the dealership's repair of the wiring broke and dealership is demanding I pay for diagnostics and repairs.”

NHTSA complaint #11473271, filed 2022-07

“The rear backup camera will periodically fail and not show what is behind the vehicle while backing up. The backup camera monitor will receive a message that states contact the dealer for repair. This is similar to the same recall notice I received for my 2020 Ford Mustang GT, yet I have never received notification of a recall for the 2015 Ford Mustang GT. I reported this same issue to my Ford Dealer when I purchased my 2020 Ford Mustang GT. …”

NHTSA complaint #11444741, filed 2021-12

“My vehicle had a recall: Ford recall 22S06 involves 2015-2017 Ford Mustangs due to a potential issue with the rearview camera. The wiring for the rearview camera may be loose or damaged, causing the camera to display a blank or distorted image. This can reduce the driver's visibility behind the vehicle, potentially increasing the risk of a crash. The dealership at Ford Chapman Automobile claims the issue is fixed but they never fixed anything on my backup camera. It was blinking and they said it is normal for this vehicle. My backup camera is not working and they are refusing to fix it. …”

NHTSA complaint #11672774, filed 2025-07

“The contact owns a 2015 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired under an unidentified NHTSA Campaign Number; however, two days after the recall remedy was completed, the digital screen failed to display the rearview image as intended but instead displayed a connection error message. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired due to the costs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 88,000.”

NHTSA complaint #11611159, filed 2024-08, 88,000 miles
