“While driving both on a highway ( 55 MPH) and a town road (25 MPH) the car engine and the whole car shut down and stalled out. I was able to restart the car briefly, both times, to get home. I had to use the emergency break to maneuver off the road to avoid hitting other cars. Now, after parking, the car will crank but will not start.”

NHTSA complaint #11276978, filed 2019-10, 109,000 miles

“My 2013 Ford Taurus will automatically shut off in the middle of driving. We took it to a dealer and they couldn't fix it. The problem went away on its own and a couple of months later is doing it again. The car stalls and often stops in the middle of driving. So disappointed in this purchase but now we are stuck .”

NHTSA complaint #11252833, filed 2019-09, 60,000 miles

“As I was driving, on the hightway, the car stopped accelerating. It seemed to not be getting any gas. When I gave it gas it did not even rev. I pulled over and shut the engine off, waited about 20 seconds, started it and it was fine. This happened again shortly after. The wrench symbol came on when this happened and now the engine light is on.”

NHTSA complaint #10895547, filed 2016-08, 36,000 miles

“Driving down the road and all of a sudden the car indicated it was overheating. So I pulled over and seen that the car was spewing coolant everywhere. From further trouble shooting I found out that the water pump was bad and that it was going to cost me over $2000. The water pump should not be going out like that when I only just hit over 80,000 miles. Ford needs to recall these water pumps they put on these Taurus's.”

NHTSA complaint #11190364, filed 2019-03, 80,000 miles

“I’m not having any success with my local Ford Dealership or with Ford Customer Service getting my car covered under the Customer Satisfaction Program. I have fuel system issues, I need to replace both cats and 2 bad sensors, halfshaft, fuel system, and braking issues. The dealership said to contact Ford and Ford says it’s the dealership’s problem. If they don’t fix it, I’m done with Ford. If they can’t stand behind their products and their dealerships won’t help the customers, then my loyalty is done. …”
