2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Steering Problems

“Engine failed at high speeds on interstate. When my Truck shut off the steering and braking system went out and getting to shoulder of interstate was difficult with others around me. Express lanes were limited on emergency shoulder therefore my truck was partially on the high speed driving lane. 911 was called out to block freeway lane. Check engine light blinked right when truck shut down.”

“When I started my truck the Service Power Steering and Service ESC notifications came up on my panel. Now my truck has no power steering and it very difficult to steer and navigate. We are in the middle of a winter storm so it is even more of a safety issue in slippery conditions. The ESC system does not engage either and the truck slides when taking corners much more than it used to before the issue.”

“While driving on a two lane highway at approximately 60 MPH the powersteering on my truck failed with warning lights on the dash. I limped it to a town where I could get it scanned and they could not figure out the issue. The issue was intermittent for a few days until it was non-stop. It took over a month to get the reconfigured part from GM to complete the repair, GM had to reconfigure the part to fix the issue I was having. A faulty powersteering control module was the probelm and it required replacement of the entire steering rack and alignment. …”

“I purchased my 2022 GMC SIERRA XLT in February of 2022. I have had it in the shop 4 times for recalls. They couldn’t or didn't put an inspection sticker on the truck because I honestly don’t think it could have passed inspection. The truck sounds like a truck on Transformer when I turn it off breaking town like a robot. On yesterday which was 1/27/2025 while backing up to turn around the truck started dragging in the back like the breaks locking up, the same thing happened while turning into my driveway off a state highway with an 18 wheeler coming. …”

“I reported problems with my truck to Beck and Masten South GMC. I was put off a number of times with ridiculous excuses. My vehicle sat in the shop for a month to get my OnStar safety equipment repaired. I also had arguments with them regarding the oil light coming on and it burning excessive amounts of oil. I was told this was normal. I know better. Also, I needed to get it back into the shop for service and inspection for a squeeling noise under the hood. And to have them check the oul consumption. I was told it idle too often, and this was the reason oil was dissapearing. …”
