“For no known reason numerous warning lights appeared on dashboard (steering, LDW, FCW failure, brakes, low tire pressure). Power steering completely stopped working. It appears ABS, lane departure warning and forward collision warning systems all stopped working. Glad this happened to me and not my wife. It is her car. Dangerous as heck!”
NHTSA complaint #11517557, filed 2023-04“When driving or when car starts, several lights on the dash come on, fdw, brake, steering wheel, lane departure, ABS... The warning fcw system failed flashes on message center. This has been doing for years on and off. Has gotten worse recently on more than not lately. Also the steering wheel has been locking up when I start my car.”
NHTSA complaint #11378047, filed 2020-12“MY ABS & all related braking lights on dash display pop up every now & then, on & off, & is not on permanently full time. Mechanic said it could be the module. I heard it last week on the radio about this Honda issue & said it was a safety & braking issue. I don’t see it on the recall list, but people with a 2013 Accord has many complaints about it on YouTube web & various searches. This should be a recall & what are we supposed to do about this safety defect?”
NHTSA complaint #11641438, filed 2025-02“When my 2013 Accord was around 80,000 miles my dashboard lit up with Forward Collison Warning System Failure. The following lights are also on, LDW, Power Steering, TPMS, Traction Control. I took my car to a mechanic and was told I needed a new VSA/ ABS Brake Control Module. I was told this is a common problem for Hondas and is dangerous as it disables traction control and could affect braking as well. The mechanic and a honda dealer quoted me $3,200 for this repair.”
NHTSA complaint #11617846, filed 2024-10“An incident has not occurred, however, if I keep driving there may be one with the brake controls. The VSA Modular unit has gone haywired and now my brakes are getting stuck and not sure if when I stop they may not work due to the system lights appearing. Honda dealer says it's faulty and when looking the problem up, seems like most hondas get this problem. This should be safety recall, especially if your warranty has run out. Costly and aggravating.”
