“The continental tires Honda puts on the crv are poor quality. I was informed by Honda's maintenance people that I needed new tires soon last year. I had to replace 4 of them at 39,000 miles now. Good quality tires should drive more than 39,000 miles.”

NHTSA complaint #10429303, filed 2011-10, 39,000 miles

“I purchased 4 new tires from les schwab on 11-29-17 (102t road control nw3 all seasons bw tires). Seven months later, on 6-20-18, one of the tires blew out. I had driven for 1-1/2 hours in 80 degree weather, and was idling at a traffic light when the tire blew (loud explosion). I didn't have any warning. The tire was split or separated near the rim. The tire had been inflated correctly and was otherwise in good condition. There hadn't been any cases of impact to the tire or an overloaded car. I didn't suffer any damage, because I was very lucky to not be on the freeway. …”

NHTSA complaint #11103613, filed 2018-06, 53,000 miles

“Still no resolution to our air bags. Also, I drive my car a lot. I drive 100 miles a day. 5 days a week. I have over 160,000 miles. I have to buy tires all the time, my last set of 4 has 80,000 mile warranty and I have right at 28,000 miles on this set. I am having to purchase another set of 4 this week. I have paid about 7 or 8,000 dollars on tires I have purchased a least 10 set of tires because they don't wear evenly. I have purchased aliments on numerous occasions. I have purchased expensive tires 1000.00' to cooper tires 600.00! And every set has worn unevenly. …”

NHTSA complaint #10923949, filed 2016-11, 160,000 miles

“Continental oem tire on Honda crv causes vehicle to slide out of control on snow covered roads and constantly lose traction in rear. We have had numerous near accidents because of the poorly designed low rated tires. My wife is afraid of driving the crv now. (2) Honda dealers inspected vehicle for possible vehicle stability assist problem and both dealers confirmed that vsa was functioning properly. Dealer #2 stated that he had similar issues with other crv owners because of the tires. …”

NHTSA complaint #10258085, filed 2009-02, 5,000 miles

“Bought new Honda crv 2008 in aug 2008 from the dealer. Sidewall blowout, 1075 miles on the car. Traveling at 30mph when the tire blew. No incident prior to the blow out. My normal driving is to/from work--8 miles r/t and other local driving. Last weekend went to atlantic city--300 miles round trip on highways. Didn't hit any potholes etc. Good thing this didn't blow out on the hwy with my family in the car! The actual tire is conti 4x4 contact--this was not in the list from which to choose.”
