“Car cut off no steering everything locked down had serpentine belt fixed but the tpm light is on app need rack and pinion as well. Need struts and shocks and car rattles terribly. It's about 4 thousand dollars I am disabled this is a safety hazard I don't know what I can do. Is Honda not responsible for defect”

NHTSA complaint #11231607, filed 2019-07, 166,000 miles

“I have not had any issues other than the typical recalls on my Honda CR-V. The steering suddenly became difficult and took it to the dealer. I was lucky that there was minimal traffic and the dealership was close. They told me the rack and pinion steering needed to be replaced. It appears this is a common problem with the 2008 CR-V's. Several mechanics now have indicated this should not have happened. Very frustrating.”

NHTSA complaint #11020169, filed 2017-08, 118,000 miles

“Power steering rack leaks Honda CR-V 2008. I bought Honda with 92,000 miles in jan 2015 from a ed morse Honda in florida in may 2015 this same dealer told me that power steering rack leaks and need to be replaced at the cost of $ 1,426.37. No any evidence of leaking fluid on the ground. Now I live in maine and my Honda did not pass inspection test - one of the reason is power steering rack leaks. Thank you..”

NHTSA complaint #10891869, filed 2016-07, 102,864 miles

“Brought my CR-V in for routine service and tires was told by mechanic stated that power steering rack n pinion was leaking and had to be replaced. I purchased a Honda for durability but apparently this particular year model has had problems with steering from several consumers and should be recalled.”

NHTSA complaint #10809861, filed 2015-12, 120,000 miles

“I noticed a loud sound when I would turn my car to the left or right. When I took it into the Honda service center, I was told I needed to have my power steering rack replaced because of a crack in it. I was told power steering fluid was leaking out.”
