NHTSA complaint #10818968, filed 2016-01, 107 miles

“2007 Honda CR-V making whining noise during turns. Topped off power steering fluid which fixed the problem for a few months. Eventually took car in to local dealership. Local Honda dealership indicates that I need new power steering hose and rack and pinion system. Without replacing both, the problem will only get worse. I see a number of other similar issues reported regarding steering issues with the 2007 Honda CR-V.”

NHTSA complaint #10587466, filed 2014-05, 90,130 miles

“My 2007 Honda crv first year of the new model has had problems from day one. The dealership says there is nothing wrong. When you turn the car to right or left the car makes a horrible grinding noise and vibrates, it has been happening since I bought the car. Almost like the steering will give out if you turn too far.”

NHTSA complaint #10290558, filed 2009-11, 100 miles

“About a year ago, I heard whining noises when driving the car. I sent it to a garage and found a steering hose leak, costing $350 to replace the hose, but didn't resolve the whining noise issue. Recently, I sent it to Honda dealer and was told that steering rack and pinion as well as steering pump need to be replaced due to the leak. The estimate to repair is $1900, too expensive for me. It seems it is a quality issue since I saw a lot of similar steering complains for this model and year.”

NHTSA complaint #10704060, filed 2015-04, 140,000 miles

“Bought vehicle used in 2008 with 18,000 miles. After several weeks began to realize there was a definite pull to the right. Went to a local dealer for maintenance over the past five years and mentioned this pull. Each time I was told they did not identify any pull. When I took my car in this week they said they were able to identify a pull and they suggested an alignment and many other maintenance tasks totaling $3,700. I replaced my tires and this helped some what, but the pull still exists. …”
