“The locks on my car's doors automatically re-lock within a second of trying to unlock them. When the engine is running, and I am in park, I cannot manually unlock the doors at all. I am very nervous that I may end up getting locked in my car without the ability to exit; this could be especially hazardous in an accident or another emergency.”

NHTSA complaint #10501066, filed 2013-03, 82,000 miles

“The front passenger door lock began opening when the car was operating. As I understand it, the proper operation of the car's crash safety equipment requires the doors to remain locked during operation. Further, it is impossible to lock this door, even manually. I also discovered that the car cannot be locked when stopped. I have not yet taken the car to the dealer for repairs.”

NHTSA complaint #10610227, filed 2014-07, 45,000 miles

“Front driver and trunk doors power locks stop working. It seemed to be very common issue for Honda cr-vs 2007 and younger. I was told by dealership to replace two latches would cost me staggering $500. It definitely seem to be the design problem. I am not sure why Honda does not act to recall the part, forcing customers to pay for its shortcomings.”

NHTSA complaint #10454743, filed 2012-04, 80,000 miles

“I have been having issues with the door lock actuator for the last 2 years, I have had them replaced, and now they are being replaced again. I can not lock them on the inside, and leaves my car open to anyone. I don't feel it is a safe. The dealership knows it is an issue yet they charge an arm & a leg to fix them. Ridiculous!!!”

NHTSA complaint #10510121, filed 2013-04, 52,000 miles

“The driver side power locks are locking all doors automatically and immediately after I unlock it via the key fob or the unlock/lock switch inside the vehicle. It can not be unlocked manually because it is very resistant to moving. I have been told this is an actuator failure and is common in 2007 Honda crv.”
