“The power locks are not working properly. I first noticed that the locks would cycle locked and unlocked after I had the car for about a year. It would happen randomly but while I was driving. Within the last six months, I couldn't get the car to open using the button on the key, I have to use the key in the driver's side door and, once inside the car, reach over to the door that I want to open to manually open it with my hand. The trunk will open if I cycle the driver's side door electric lock/unlock button several times. …”

NHTSA complaint #10560839, filed 2014-01, 20,000 miles

“The rear, passenger-side door lock actuator began to fail on my 2010 Honda crv in the later part of 2012 or early part of 2013. It originally started as a squealing noise when I would lock or un-lock the door and escalated to a loud grinding/clunking noise. The lock itself functions intermittently, often struggling or failing completely to lock and/or unlock with the key-fob or with the button on the door. The issue has seemed to spread to the rear, driver-side door lock, which now has also began to show signs of failure. …”

NHTSA complaint #10546503, filed 2013-10, 30,000 miles

“Vehicle was rear-ended by a faster vehicle. The impact forced the transmission into park, which automatically locked the doors, trapping any occupants. Had there been a fire or water submergence situation, there could be unnecessary injury or even death. Vehicle door locks need to be re-designed to let occupants escape in an emergency.”

NHTSA complaint #10690182, filed 2015-02, 60,802 miles

“The doors lock and unlock on their own while driving. Also, the passenger door and hatch will not unlock. The passenger door can be unlocked manually, however, the hatch does not have a way to unlock it from the inside which poses a huge safety hazard. The doors should remain locked while the car is in drive, however, they unlock on their own which has allowed my 6 year old to open the door while the car is in motion.”

NHTSA complaint #10556351, filed 2013-12, 39,000 miles

“One month ago, car locks would randomly lock and unlock while driving. Now the Driver side front door lock actuator stopped working. I cannot open door manually from the inside or unlock the door with the key from the outside. Now I can only exit the car by the passenger door and leave the car unlocked otherwise I can't get in if it's locked.”
