“Noticed a whining sound while driving commonly associated with power steering control pump problems. Also noticed fluid leak spots on my garage floor when problem first started. We took the car in to the local Honda dealer to have it checked out & was told that the power steering hose was corroded as well as the transmission hose had rusted. We found it very unusual that a power steering hose would corrode given the fact that we bought the Honda new and it had been recently serviced and inspected at the cost of over $500.00 last year. …”

NHTSA complaint #10690183, filed 2015-02, 48,501 miles

“2007 Honda CR-V 4wd, rear differential noise. It starts right at the beginning at slow sharp turn. I thought all 4wd drive are the same. The dealer service people never mentioned any problem when we did regular service until it ran out of the warranty. Now they noticed the noise and advised us to change the fluid. I suspected if this would solve the problem since I started noticing it right from the beginning. When I checked online, I found it is a bigger problem.”

NHTSA complaint #10341967, filed 2010-07, 45,000 miles

“After pulling into a parking spot at the grocery store, I placed my foot on the brake to put the car in park. All of a sudden, the car lurched forward at a high speed almost hitting the car parked in front of me. I had to depress the brakes all the way to the floor to stop the car (and my brakes are fairly new)! Almost scared me to death! I bought the car brand new and have never had this problem. The car gets serviced regularly by the dealer. After this incident I'm afraid to drive for fear it will happen again and next time someone could get hurt or worse.”

NHTSA complaint #10583591, filed 2014-04, 86,000 miles

“Rear differential noise when backing and turning, could escalate to a dangerous handling of the car. Second time that I have to take my Honda CR-V 2007 to the dealer for the same reason.”

NHTSA complaint #10363822, filed 2010-11, 8,000 miles

“I have a 2007 crv, 45000 miles on it, and I experienced a moaning or groaning comes from the rear differential when making a sharp or tight turn at low speeds.”
