“Engine shuts off while driving. Speeds can be low or high. 20-65 mph. While driving, engine will cut off. Sometimes the electrics remain on and I can use power steering to pull to the side of the road, other times everything shuts down. It can happen while turning or regular straight driving. Sometimes it will restart right after, other times, it won't start for many minutes. We have gotten stuck in turn lanes, middle of intersections, and busy 3 lane city roads. Mechanic says it is not showing any codes and can't find anything wrong with the car.”
NHTSA complaint #11736742, filed 2026-05“The back tire locked up in a curve and caused a head on collision. I feel this problem came from a clutch failure. What further supports my theory is the fact that the clutch assembly fell apart and the timing chain was broken. The back tire had temporarily halted as I made it through the clutches on 2 occasions prior to my crash.”
NHTSA complaint #743737, filed 2001-04“The contact owns a 2001 Honda crv. The contact stated that the transmission would not go into park. He has contacted the manufacturer and they said that there was a recall on the 2002 crv but not the 2001. The failure is getting progressively worse. The vehicle has not been repaired. The failure mileage was 95,000. The current mileage was 105,000.”
NHTSA complaint #10354740, filed 2010-09, 95,000 miles“My problem is that when you prepare to come to a stop, press the clutch and brake, the car will die. No warning at all. The RPM's will just dive to 0 and it dies. When it first began, I kept a detail log of weather, length of trip, everything I could think of and each time it died, it blew another idea out of the water. Nothing seemed to coordinate from time to time. I have had it in about 4 times total into two different Honda dealers and niether of them have been able to duplicate the stall. Therefore, they can't find nor fix the problem.”
NHTSA complaint #761941, filed 2002-05“The contact owns a 2001 Honda CR-V. After coming to a complete stop and while accelerating, the vehicle shook. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing and a transmission flush was performed. The contact was notified there were no service bulletins or recalls regarding the failure. The failure recurred and the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and another transmission flush was performed. The failure continued to occur and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer for diagnostic testing. …”
