NHTSA complaint #11399581, filed 2021-03, 182,000 miles

“Car jerks violently when shifting from one gear to another. On december 27, car stopped shifting and stalled on the freeway at night with my family in it. It stopped changing gear while I was going up hill and had to be towed. Luckily I was able to guide it out of the freeway traffic. Car was usually serviced at a Honda dealership.”

NHTSA complaint #10567512, filed 2014-03, 90,000 miles

“When the car reaches a speed of 30-40 miles an hour the eco gear kicks in causing the car to vibrate and shake under the car in the transmission area. I have been told by the dealer that it was motor mounts, torque converter, wheel alignment, etc. I have found a class action suit that was filed in california. I want to be add to that lawsuit if possible.”

NHTSA complaint #10555759, filed 2013-12, 102,000 miles

“We are the only owner of the van bought brand new from a Honda dealer. At approximately 145k miles the engine light came on. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for a second opinion who diagnosed that the torque converter needed to be replaced. The local dealers wanted a small fortune to repair it, more than the car was worth it. I learned that it is a typical problem with those Honda odysseys. The car has been repaired though.”

NHTSA complaint #11156867, filed 2018-12, 145,000 miles

“The transmission has been whining since 75000k. It failed completely at 142000 miles. Here's what finally killed it, I was making a u turn in a parking lot at my kid's school. I had to have it towed back to the house. This transmission has been a total liability for me and my family. Now we're in a major pickle.”
