“The cruise will shut off randomly saying the radar is blocked. When it does this the car decelerates very fast. Which is very dangerous in traffic. I’ve almost been rear ended a few times. It has also just started decelerating very fast when in cruise on highway for no apparent reason with no one in front of me.”
NHTSA complaint #11563665, filed 2024-01“While driving on the highway in foggy conditions, the smart cruise control system and forward safety system suddenly shut off while I was going 70 miles an hour. This almost resulted in a car rear ending me due to the sudden deceleration. The following day, with clear weather, the same issue happened again despite nothing appearing to have caused this issue while I was driving. This is a very serious concern to suddenly stop on a highway.”
NHTSA complaint #11648554, filed 2025-03“I was coasting into a library parking space with my foot off the accelerator. The car accelerated even with my foot on the brake, jumped a curb and was stopped with above ground tree roots. The dashboard should have been lighted up with collision warning indicators and the automatic braking should have engaged. It did none of that. The car was totaled. Nothing was ever checked to see if it was a mechanical error. My insurer totaled the car.”
NHTSA complaint #11697499, filed 2025-11“- EV Fuse blown My Hyundai Ioniq5 EV electrical system stopped function on March 25th, 9 month after we purchased this EV, on a busy highway. It took Hyundai dealer 8 weeks to fix this issue. Due to the fix report, some fuse was blown. - Automatic Emergency Braking engaged On Jun 16th, when driving on HW 90 west bound, road was clean. No vehicle in front of me. The Automatic Emergency Braking was engaged. This could be very dangerous if the highway was busy.”
NHTSA complaint #11527771, filed 2023-06“I was driving on the highway using advanced highway assist and the car became completely unresponsive. I was traveling 75mph on a major highway with a semi behind me and one to my right in the slow lane. The car stopped accelerating and I was unable to resume driving. I was forced to coast to a stop on the side of the highway. I had my daughter with me and were I not able to safely maneuver between the semi trucks, we could have been killed or seriosuly injured in a high speed crash.”
