“As soon as I turn the car over, my dash lights, headlights come on. The headlight stalk and the windshield wiper stalk are inoperable. It's a safety hazard to drive my car. And after researching through multiple forums and sites online, it looks like this is a fairly common problem, with a non-standard resolution. Not looking forward to the hours I'm going to have to spend getting this addressed. I was driving 8/14 when I noticed the issues.”
NHTSA complaint #10895873, filed 2016-08, 135,000 miles“2007 Jeep wrangler unlimited sahara will stall while driving down the road at any given time/speed. Wipers will start going off without turning them on, followed by engine stalling, leaving me unable to accelerate. Meanwhile, my wheels lock up leaving me unable to steer. Very dangerous. Already had the tipm reprogrammed in 2010, and then again 2 days ago. (october 16th, 2015). On the way home from getting it fixed , wipers go off again and engine stalls. Paid $825 for nothing. This needs to be dealt with.”
NHTSA complaint #10783162, filed 2015-10, 116,500 miles“This has occurred while driving and while keys were not even in the ignition. I was driving down the road and the horn started honking, wipers went off and windshield fluid started spraying every where. It has done it several times. It has also done this just when opening the doors and no keys in the ignition. It blinks through the gears on the transmission and has locked up the traction control. I have had it in to the dealership several times and it is just now possibly diagnosed with tipm. …”
NHTSA complaint #10542313, filed 2013-09, 97,000 miles“The windshield on the vehicle is very weak. I have had three cracks in the last three weeks. This seems to occur on days below 32 degrees f. I do not travel gravel roads and have never had a vehicle windshield do this before.”
NHTSA complaint #10213596, filed 2008-01, 15,000 miles“First the windshield wipers stopped working (changed motor and controls) then the horn stopped working, then the blinker and lights along with the instrument panel. Switched the panel and finally the tipm which fixes all issues. Vehicle continued to run but parked it until after reinstalling the tipm.”
