“My truck continues to light up saying that the fuel cap is loose. I believe that there was a former recall about a crack and engine coolant gas getting into the system, and this was never fixed properly. Also, the airbag light continues to come on, and there was a former recall about that and it was never fixed. These are all while stationary.”
NHTSA complaint #11387365, filed 2021-01, 75,000 miles“Error code p0463: fuel level sensor circuit high input, this means my fuel gauge is experiencing failures and I can not accurately determine how much fuel is in the vehicle. Doing a quick google search, this appears to be a very common issue with the 2014 Ram 1500 5.7l. I'm at roughly 68500 mile on my truck so the issue is also out of warranty.”
NHTSA complaint #11301039, filed 2020-01, 68,500 miles“While driving I had a sudden failure of the fuel level sensor unit along with a check engine light. The fuel level sensor caused the fuel gauge to drop to empty immediately and the dte estimate to show low fuel. When new unit was picked up from the dealership I was advised that he had been selling a large amount of the specific part and to hold onto my receipt since it had a 2 year warranty.”
NHTSA complaint #11338539, filed 2020-07, 84,000 miles“My trucks 'service electronic throttle control' light (lightning bolt) comes on both when starting my vehicle and when driving my vehicle. When it comes on when I try to start the truck, it wont change out of the gear it is in (ie I cant go faster than 15-18mph). It sometimes goes off if I turn the engine on and off multiple times. …”
NHTSA complaint #11013019, filed 2017-08, 38,000 miles“The engine check light illuminated in the instrument panel. I took the vehicle to my dealership and they diagnosed the problem as a fuel level sensor stuck. When the light first illuminated the vehicle was parked. Consumer stated when the sensor fails ity causes the fuel gauge to plummet to empty.”
