Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“My truck continues to light up saying that the fuel cap is loose. I believe that there was a former recall about a crack and engine coolant gas getting into the system, and this was never fixed properly. Also, the airbag light continues to come on, and there was a former recall about that and it was never fixed. These are all while stationary.”

NHTSA complaint #11387365, filed 2021-01, 75,000 miles

“Takata recall. I was driving at approximately 65 MPH in a 70mph zone in the rain. Truck hydroplane and I spun across the highway and impacted a cement wall on the driver's side. The seat airbag failed to deploy resulting in me hitting the door, causing bruising to my ribs and shoulder on my left side.”

NHTSA complaint #11056307, filed 2017-12, 94,000 miles

“I wrote a prior complaint regarding the air bags. I had taken the truck in 7 times. After I received an email back stating the case was closed, I was upset. I contacted chrysler one more time, and they apologized and reimbursed me for most of the repairs. In the end, I was pleased that they recognized the problem and were willing to rectify the situation..”

NHTSA complaint #10588891, filed 2014-05, 36,000 miles

“My check air bag system warning light on the dashboard turns on randomly. I had this issue fixed last summer and the dealer said it was a wiring issue. I am concerned this issue has underlying problems.”

NHTSA complaint #11399850, filed 2021-03, 132,335 miles

“Airbag check light randomly goes off and on will driving. Took truck to dealer in cambridge,mn and was told plug connector for airbag under front passenger seat needs to be replaced. Not covered by warranty so it would cost $650 on top of the inspection fee I now owe because it wasn't a problem that warranty covered. Denied the service, if need be I can fix it myself and better than them just setting up another junk plug connector to probably get same problem return of n new connector.”
