“4 separate times now, lost my headlights while driving at night. Information center showed low beams and high beams out, all I had was marker lights and fog lights. After sitting for a few minutes, thinking what was going on, the lights came back on. Each instance happened at night, while driving, after dark, and twice almost caused an accident.”
NHTSA complaint #11048189, filed 2017-11, 73,745 miles“The main headlamps stopped working while I was driving on the highway at night. I had to play with the knob to at 70mph in the dark to make them work again. They malfunction when the switch is set to auto. Since then, the lights also turn themselves on intermittently when stationary in the middle of the night.”
NHTSA complaint #10819523, filed 2016-01, 36,000 miles“My driver side headlight will collect significant water inside he assembly. It will fog over so bad that the effectiveness of the headlight is seriously diminished. This causes poor night vision. This is a safety hazards. Other oncoming drivers will flash me thinking I have my high rams on. Visibility on the drivers side is severely impeded. I have removed the assembly and poured out 1/2 cup of water from the vent opening.”
NHTSA complaint #11141156, filed 2018-10, 59,000 miles“The lighting system (headlights) on my 2014 Ram truck are dangerous to use at night. They are very dim and produce sub-standard lighting for safe driving. I am forced to use high beams during night driving. This is notably not safe for oncoming drivers, but it is the only option I have. After a quick internet search, this is a known problem with many chrysler, Ram and jeep products.”
NHTSA complaint #10572506, filed 2014-03, 20 miles“The Ram 1500, 2014, that I currently drive has terrible headlights. As the truck has gotten a little older the headlights have gotten much worse. They have always been terrible since day one. I have taken the truck to have the headlights professionally buffed out, and I have changed all four bulbs with the best bulbs I can find. Almost no difference. The truck is a danger to drive at night. I cant see at all. I am sure people have trouble seeing me as well.”
