2017 Ram Promaster Steering Problems

“Upper bearing plates rusted out at low mileage,making van unexpectedly pull in whichever direction it was steered last as suspension springs did not return to center. Cost $1500.00 to repair. Mechanic stated that dealer had plenty of these parts on hand which he found suspicious as truck is only three years old, indicating that this is probably a common problem.”

“Front driver side cv axel failing. Major steering jiggle and tire wobble anywhere from 30-65mph on straight aways and especially on corners. Have stopped operating the vehicle until part is replaceable, unfortunately nation wide backorder happening now, apparently because this is happening to lots of these models.”

“The windshield cowl on this vehicle is poorly designed, allowing water intrusion from multiple points. This is not a minor leak but a severe design flaw that creates immediate and dangerous safety hazards while driving, particularly at highway speeds. The most critical issue is water pouring directly onto the serpentine belt and pulley system. While driving at highway speeds in heavy rain, I lost power steering after water intrusion caused the belt to slip. This sudden loss of steering assist made the vehicle extremely difficult to control, especially in traffic and during turns. …”
