Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“Interior rear view mirror obstructs view to the right for tall people. I've almost had 3-4 serious accidents because the rear view mirror in my 1992 Toyota Camry is located rather low in the passenger compartment. I'm 6'3 , and when I look to the right, the rear view mirror causes a large blind spot as it is directly in my field of vision. This is especially problematic at intersections as it blocks the view of traffic coming from the right. …”

NHTSA complaint #10047249, filed 2003-11, 2,000 miles

“The interior rear view mirror creates a blind spot because of its size and location for tall drivers. Consumer is 6 feet 3 inches tall. This causes an obstruction when driver attempts to merge over to the right/left. The driver is unable to properly see oncoming motorists.”

NHTSA complaint #10048123, filed 2003-11

“Attempted to raise drivers side window, glass would not rise, broken plastic tab at regulator cable to window assembly. I will no longer buy parts to fix anymore, bailing wire worked fine to repair. Window now works again, and did not cost $250 to fix the $1.00 part, actually cost nothing.”

NHTSA complaint #719942, filed 2000-03

“Trunk release will not work majority of time, driver's window stuck in down position, replaced radiator, brakes make groaning noise consistently, brakes wear out in less than 20k mi, door trim came loose as well as the carpeting”

NHTSA complaint #719328, filed 2000-02

“Right front passenger window does not operate at all, and sometimes the window on the driver's will move and sometimes it will not. Dealer/manufacturer are aware of the problem. Not willing to correct free of charge. The problem has not been corrected.”

NHTSA complaint #826832, filed 1998-08
