“Driving down i35 when I heard a loud boom and smelled a burning rubber smell and realized my back passenger window shattered on drivers side. The dealer ship nor Toyota show any interest in hearing about the issue or taking responsibility. I had to repair out of my pocket. Thankful my daughter was not in the back seat and only I was in the vehicle.”

NHTSA complaint #10556808, filed 2013-12, 13,500 miles

“The back windshield shattered into small pieces while it was parked in our apartment lot. I just opened and closed the door in the morning it is shattered into small pieces. I went to the dealer, even though it is manufacturing or Toyota's supplier issue it is not covered under warranty. It would have been a serious issue if a kid is in the car, whose car seat is facing the rear wind shield.”

NHTSA complaint #10499699, filed 2013-02, 12,000 miles

“Loud knocking noise coming from moon roof of my vehicle, I took it to Toyota dealer and they said its fixed but after driving 5 miles, it started making more noise, planning to take the car to same dealer again.”

NHTSA complaint #10616428, filed 2014-07, 35,000 miles

“I was merging on to the interstate when I heard a loud crash. I then heard a rushing wind sound and glass breaking. I slide open the interior sun visor on my sun roof just slightly and saw broken glass and a large hole in the sun roof. I realized that the glass on the sun roof had suddenly broken. I did not pass under an overpass and did not see any objects that would have cause the breakage. There were no trucks near me that could have dropped anything that could cause the damage. …”

NHTSA complaint #10488912, filed 2012-12, 4,500 miles

“While driving at approximately 65 MPH the sunroof of my Toyota Camry exploded. It was a loud explosion-type sound. There were no overpasses in sight and very little traffic on the highway.the sunroof visor was closed, therefore no glass debris affected passengers. The dealership seems to insist that something hit the sunroof. The explosion of the sunroof came out of nowhere without warning. My 2-year-old daughter was sitting in the back middle seat and could have been seriously injured with glass shards, had the visor been open.”
