“Torque converter is faulty. There was a recall for this on my 2012 Toyota Camry that I was unaware of. The recall was acknowledged by Toyota and only covered 5 years 60,000 miles. I never received anything in writing about this recall and there are many consumers complaints regarding this online. I cannot afford a new vehicle and need this repaired by Toyota.”

NHTSA complaint #11361685, filed 2020-09, 110,000 miles

“Internal torque converter failure shuddering in 2nd gear. This is a recall for my 2012 Toyota Camry se which a Toyota repersentative told me that the recall expired on the 11th of january 2021... My vehicle stopped and vibrated and unable to move which would have caused an accident. After the light shows green”

NHTSA complaint #11389898, filed 2021-01, 88,000 miles

“Around 40-45 MPH the vehicle starts to stutter/shake when changing gears. I look online and these cars have problem with the torque converter and Toyota would not fix it because they said its not a recall. I took it to the dealership but the technician said that he cannot feel in and neither does his supervisor. I feel the stutter/ shake everyday when I drive the car.”

NHTSA complaint #11152890, filed 2018-11, 65,000 miles

“The car hesitates for three to five seconds after decelerating, or when turning a corner, taking my foot off the pedal and then trying to accelerate again. Brought to dealer and they updated the software and told me there isn't any problems with the care. They lie. Over 200 people have reported this problem with toyotas on one site alone.”

NHTSA complaint #10865895, filed 2016-05, 26,000 miles

“Had the same issue 3 years ago they took my car for 3 days trying to fix it. It's stuttering a lot. First time took it in the dealer had it for a day. Took it back right after I drove off. Then they kept it for 3 days after that. Now I'm having the same issue since last year and nobody seem to be paying attention to my complaints. Driving 40 MPH and it does the stuttering for seconds at a time every single day.”
